Ice-climbing
Due too global warming, the possibilities for ice-climbing in central-Europe are getting fewer and fewer. This has for the last years led groups of international climbers far north to search for ice to climb. The cold regions north in Norway, north to the polar circle has been their destination. They have visited us, and found waterfalls of high quality with the possibility to climb close to the coast in the region of Troms, on the islands of Senja and Kvaløya, in Lofoten and in the mighty Alps of Lyngen.
In 2010, climbers from all over the world were invited to Fjellkysten for the very first ICE Festival. This year we are happy to invite you to the inner stroke of Troms and the island Senja again. Share this coastal paradise for ice-climbing with climbers from the whole world. Close to the sea, where cold wind periodically travels in from the Barents Sea, latitude – everything is combined in a world-class area for ice-climbing with good infrastructure. The largest waterfall is nearly 600 meters, class 5. There are countless numbers of waterfalls from 100 -300 meters, and endless possibilities for iceragging. The rest is coastal areas with mountains that have lairs of ice all the way down to the water.
