Iceclimbing

Coastal Ice Climbing in Artic Norway

Due to global warming there is a tendency to reduced possibilities of ice climbing in central Europe. This fact has the last years led groups of international climbers far north in a quest for ice. To the cold regions north in Norway, far above the Polar Circle.

They have visited and done quality waterfall- and coastal ice climbing in the back country of the Troms region, on the islands of Senja and Kvaløya, in Lofoten Islands and in the mighty Lyngen Alps.

Last year we invited climbers from all over the world to Lofoten Islands to share this heaven of coastal ice climbing paradise.

This year we invite the world to the inner regions of Troms and to the island of Senja.

The proximity to the sea, the periodic cold winds coming in from the Barents Sea, the latitude – all combines to a world class ice climbing area with wellconnected infrastructure close to the climbing . The biggest waterfall is nearly 600 meter, grade 5. There is countless waterfalls from 100 to 300 meter and endless possibilities for icecragging. The rest is coastal country with lots of frosen steep rock with layers of ice cascading down to the seashore.
